Free for All

Anon posting is open. The thread below this one is for rumors, this one is for whatever else you want to talk about. Just a few guidelines: 1. No discussion about religion. Not even to tell me you're glad I'm not allowing it. Nothing. Please. 2. Be nice. 3. Let's keep discussions to China and adoption. Please don't talk about other people (see rule number 2)

Thanks for turning anon posting on for a bit. I wonder if you think it is possible that the poll results could be slightly skewed in favor of weights on May 31 and early June LID's because it's those of us with these LIDs that are the most obsessive? It's just a thought but do we have anything besides the poll to tell us that the weight of LID's are May 31 and early June? Thanks for this blog. I check it multiple times since I am an obsessive semi-early June LID (6-8). Thanks....

I am from Canada. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if medicals, homestudies, or criminal checks expire? I heard some rumors that that may be the case after one year if we still haven't travelled to China to get our daughter?? Do you know after what time frame they expire?

I know this is going to sound aweful and I hate to even think of this....
But in the meantime before referral if one of the spouses were to pass away, is it still possible to adopt as a single or would the application be declined? Just curious?

I know of one case where the adoptie father to be (they already had one daughter from China and were DTC for #2) was killed on Sept 11 (on one of the planes that hit the World Trade Center). The widow was able to complete the adoption as a single (I'll bet she had to redo some paperwork, but I know it happened)

10:23 - there was a couple in process on 9-11, the husband was killed and the wife was able to do a homestudy update and keep her place in line (or something close to her place). You can google for Jeff Mladenik to see what's still out there on it.

As for concrete evidence - the CCAA is the only one with concrete numbers, and they aren't sharing. I'll make another post with links to all of our polls.

i noticed on the sept. yahoo board that many many seem to have accepted SN needs referrals. this is also starting to happen on the Oct. board...whether this means the month is/will become a "small" one????

anyone done a review of agency websites? Most still have 10-12 mos. posted...ccai is 10...
just a curious idea...

I don't think there are THAT many SN children to reduce the dossiers by that much-please correct me if I am wrong!

I noticed on the CCAA website there is a contact email address. I personally have never tried to contact them re times from LID to referral. Not sure if they would even respond, but has anyone ever tried to contact them before?

Just a thought...

Based on LID dates for a large agency, each week has about 18-20 dossiers (for that agency). Some months have 4 LID's, some have 5. September has 1, but October has 7. So the average is pretty stable. March 2006 is unusually large.

There have been a lot of rumors that September is quite a small month. I heard most of the lID dates are early September?. I have also heard August and October are big months and there's speculation October is as big as May? Our agency's August and October groups were both delayed in being logged in and were told it was because there were a high volume of dossiers sent those months?.

10:21 - I am also from Canada (BC), our criminal record checks expired after one year and we were advised by our agency at the 9 mos mark to have them renewed. I have not been advised that we need to have our medicals updated.

How do you know March 2006 is unually large??

I think the rule is when you are 'logged in' at the CCAA you shouldn't be contacting them directly about your file or other issues. As tempting as that email address may be IMHO I don't think the CCAA or your agency would view it kindly.

Are you expecting March 2006 to be a large month for dossiers just based on the fact that their seem to be sooo many various March LIDS coming in as of late on the March DTC board?? Or do you have more info to back that up? Just curious because I have a March LID..

i think march 2006 might be big because it seems a lot of feb. DTC were LID March, and it seems that even late March DTCs were LID March...
I am 3/10 DTC, but have not gotten my LID yet from my agency, but I hope I get a March LID too. I hope they don't pass over the little agencies for the big ones!

if the waits go 12 months or longer for referral, isn't that going to make more paperwork for ccaa because aren't everyone's forms going to expire?
how does that work?

To 11:07

80% Of all chinese orphans are Special Needs children, so that is a lot.
However I don't think many people will switch to SN. At least not as much that it will affect the waiting-time.

Re emailing CCAA. I think it also says somewhere on their site that they prefer not to receive emails from waiting parents because they have limited resources and time to communicate with parents. They prefer you contact your agency.

10:21 - I asked my Canadian agency yesterday about expiry of documents and was told that nothing expires once it is logged in with the CCAA, "unless the document has a specific expiry date on the form." Although that would still lead me to worry about the medicals and criminal checks, my agency also said they didn't believe any of my documents have any expiry dates. Don't know if that helps.

I'm also from Canada - had criminal checks, fingerprints last March and my agency has not said anything to us about updating our files. We were LID August.
