Some good news, for a change

Someone sent me an email that says that someone posted to one of the DTC groups that her husband had the opportunity to speak with Director Lu when the CCAA delegation was in Denver last week. He was told that with a LID of 12/9/05 that they could expect a referral between November and January. So, 11 to 13 months. That does sound like they are planning to stay "around 12 months" doesn't it?

That is awesome!!! All this time I have felt like we would be getting our referral about 1 year after LID, maybe that WILL happen!

My fingers & toes are crossed and I'm praying hard that this rumor is true. Thanks for sharing this!

I truly hope that's the case! and more so for the late year 05 LIDS and the 06 ones as well. yet, and as hard as it is for me to say...considering how I'm trying to be optimistic...could Director Lu just have been saying that since they're supposedly trying to maintaining the whole 12 month thing? just a 'devil's advocate' moment there.
by all means I'm hoping and thinking we'll be 12 month (Aug) and I truly feel that. but...

oh what the hell...that is good to hear Dir. Lu said that. :D

W4oT - I'd thought of that as well.

My source also got it straight from the CCAA that they do not intend to go beyond the 12 month wait. So, that's two "from the horse's mouth", and yet we are still hearing that we should start lobbying congress to extend the dates on the I-171H.

But I need good news. I really do. So I posted it with no qualifiers, because I think we all need good news.

I'm still not going to tell my family and friends "for sure by September or October", though.

RQ-
definitely glad you did post that and indeed it does reinforce the 12 month plan. Like I said, really trying to stay optimistic...but like you, hesitant alittle as well.

Yikes, with an Oct 26 LID, if I can't get back by Dec 31 I need to change my withholding back to a higher amount (had assumed that tax credit would wipe out my tax liability this year). OUCH

Our LID is 06-29-05. Our agency recently told us that they felt hopeful for an end of June referral for us. If CCAA only gets through the 6th (5 business days)... I can't see how they could get to us by the end of June.

I am glad of all of you with LIDs that are a bit out there.. you have a fairly decent expectation of a year long wait. It has been awful watching this unfold month to month not knowing when we would be next...imagine if this time line were anything like last year, they would be getting ready to send out Oct LID Referrals... sigh.

Lisa-
a friend of ours has a 6/15 LID and she's going through the same thing (we're 8/10). In fact those of us with June,July,Aug LIDs could go through this as well. Just don't know if the CCAA will creep a week to a week 1/2 at a time, or suddenly do 3 weeks one time. But if they try to stick with the "12 month" idea..that bodes well. I feel pretty strongly that they can get through June in no longer than 3 months...which would be June referral for you it seems. I think the 2 month or 3 month thing for June will hinge on this next match. Just my opinion and feeling...especially since we're hoping for before the end of Sept (thanks to that whole I-171H thing) :)
hang in there!!!

interesting thought...would be nice. It did seem a bit odd that the announcement that the CCAA was 'working on' the next group of matches (i.e. prepping to send out) came about a week earlier than the previous months.
seems like they send them out about a week after the announcement though. any thoughts?

I think that's great news. Hope it's true. I'm not worried about a 11-13 month wait, it's the 18-24 month stuff that stresses me.

Here is the yahoo group for March 2006.

You can find others at:

Go to the link for DTC discussion groups. They have them all listed there. They also have a listing of all the SWI specific yahoo groups for after you get your referral.

I posted the "rumor" about my husband's conversation with Dr. Lu on the Nov.DTC board. The conversation did really happen. I can only vouch for the actual conversation, however. I wish I could vouch for whether Dr. Lu is being totally honest but I am choosing to believe him.

What a surprise to see my words on this blog. Boy ya think nobody is paying attention to what you say and then. . . Wish my kids would listen as closely. ; )

Hi Laurie - it's really nice to hear from the originator. Please thank your husband on behalf of all of us for daring to actually ask the question. It seems no one else had the nerve to ask.

And, having something like this from the director of the CCAA would be kind of like saying you heard something from EF Hutton on a commercial - the whole room would be silent to hear what you said ;)

chinabound, i thought the exact same thing when i first heard this story ( and like others have said, thank you, laurie, for reporting your husband's conversation -- it is good to know that it really did happen and kudos to your husband for having the guts!) I also fear that dr Lu could have just been telling laurie's husband 'what he wanted to hear'

I have heard this MANY times about chinese culture, that by telling someone what they want to hear, and not delivering bad news, you are not lying, you are being polite. i can only hope that the director of a huge adoption program would NOT do this with an adoptive parent, considering the impact it would have...

like I said in my post above...
they are supposedly trying to work that "12 month wait" plan according to RQ's source. And considering Dir. Lu is, after all, a government appointed official...he could very likely have been saying that to be 'polite'.

of course then down the road he would need to worry about 'saving face'...haha

p.s. has anyone else seen or heard anything more than just the 6th for this next batch? you know as far as someone with a later LID posting they were told they'd be included...

The same sort of "wonderings" were going on during my first wait when the rumor was that CCAA said they were trying to get to a 6 month wait. You would hear that they were just saying that to save face and all the other stuff we are saying now basically. But low and behold our daughter's referral came 6 months to the day. So it's my belief that if CCAA has decided to say something about it, they are working toward it. Now that may not happen with you, you and you.....but they are working towards it.

waitingmommy-
I've always believed (through reading and watching things on China culture and history) that when the gov't and people put their minds to it and get the processes in place, they pretty much do what they set out to do. Going through this wait hearing different things hasn't really swayed us from feeling our referral will come about the 12 month mark (we have an 8/10 LID), but it's good to hear from someone who's experienced what you've said. :) thanks for sharing that!
