New Waiting Child Program

Someone posted that the CCAA delegation here in the U.S. had mentioned something about a change in the waiting child program. Apparently there are at least three agencies who are part of this pilot program. Everything is submitted via the internet, and waiting families receive PA in as little as 72 hours (though it seems that some are taking a week). One person emailed me that the TA process is still an unknown, while another said that TA's are expected about 4 to 6 weeks later. Major High Fives to the CCAA on this one. Getting the special needs children into their families as quickly as possible will be a wonderful thing. I hope they can pull this off and keep the times this low.

Our agency is one of the two or three who are participating in the new pilot program. I'm not sure if the new program was the reason, but we recently received our TA in 38 days. Of course, every family will follow a different timeline in the WCP so there are no guarantees as far as travel or PA times, but we were dang pleased with our TA timeline!

This made my heart go "pitter pat" but I'm pretty sure my agency isn't part of the pilot project.

We're hoping to travel this year but keeping ourselves grounded in the reality that it may be 2007 before we can travel to bring home our precious little Madeline. Her SN is very minor but she still needs to have surgery to correct it so she can speak and eat properly.

Cut and paste this link. My agency is one of two that are part of this new pilot program. It's public knowledge so anyone can access it. You have to scroll down to Jan. 31 for the posting that explains this.

oscar1elmo -- i, too, thought there might be a subtle message here since they are speeding up SN timelines right when NSN referrals have ground almost to a halt.

It'd be nice if they could use some of these speedy new systems for NSN as well. But boy, this is such good news for waiting families in the WC and SN programs, and we havent had any good news for awhile...
