Free for All

Anon posting is open. The other thread is for rumors, this one is for whatever else you want to talk about. Just a few guidelines: 1. No discussion about religion. Not even to tell me you're glad I'm not allowing it. Nothing. Please. 2. Be nice. 3. Let's keep discussions to China and adoption. Please don't talk about other people (see rule number 2)

I have a question.

It looks like you are now convinced it will be less than 12 months? And your LID is September? How much can we depend on that?

I know it's soo hard. I don't think anyone really has a clear answer on how long LID to referral will be. But personally I like this rumor(max 10-12 mos) and believe it may be the case. Otherwise there would be HUGE problems with homestudies having to be updated, immigration sponsorships having to be extended and fingerprints having to be done etc. for most of us. I think CCAA doesn't want to have any of these things happen. It would mean more problems for them as well as us!!

Umm, that's three questions 11:34 :)

I am now hopefully optimistic that the wait will be less than 12 months. Two days ago I was not, I was planning my life around it being likely that we would travel in 2007.

Yes, my LID is in September.

With international adoption, you can never really be 100% sure of anything.

It's 11:52 again...
I mean aNONymous. I want to know who's going to be the RQ when our current leader is busy with a new baby? RQ can you multi-task?

My agency has consistently (last few months) stuck with 10-12 mnths. I sure hope we Sept. people get a referral by late August, or we will need to re-do stuff for our I-171 which expirs late NOV.

It's unanimous, RQ stays on. C'mon, how much time can two little girls take to raise? No, seriously, RQ, you were born for this, plus, you cannot leave us in the lurch!!!!

Yes, I can multitask, but not sure how things are going to go with another kiddo in the house.

I have a friend who has decided to get her rear end in gear and start paperchasing for a little sister for her daughter, so I might still be keeping up with the rumors for her.

Hopefully by then the slowdown will be over and the rumors won't be as huge of a deal.

Why RQ doesn't the CCAA like the 6 month wait, Are you really sure that this source is a good one and do you really think we can expect a 12 month wait ...

I have read some discussion that matches are made the week before referrals are mailed. Do you know if that has any truth to it? Or are matches made throughout the month?
anyone know what goes on in the mysterious matching room?

Just a question or two, RQ. And I won't even post anonymously. :)

When I logged on for my hourly RQ fix, I see that there are 48 users online. Wow - that's a bunch of people.

How many hits do you get in a day? What's the number or percentage of folks hitting from the same IP numerous times a day (like me)? :)

This is the first time I have added my two cents but here goes... Thought I would through in that my agency, one of the big ones, is sticking to "approximately 10 months".

I think that with the 6 month wait there were two problems

1. a huge influx of dossiers because they were one of the shortest waits

2. the logistics of figuring out when orphanages should send baby paperwork would be a lot harder that way - figure it takes 6 to 7 months to get the babies' paperwork finished and to the CCAA - having an 8 month wait makes it easier to know how many babies they should put into the program.

I'm just guessing, but that makes sense to me.

-----------

12:14 - no idea, but I'd like a definitive answer as well

-------------

my hits range from 7,000 to 11,000 hits a day now, and come from between 3,000 and 4,500 different computers a day

Here's my Anon rumor for the day!
I heard some while back from a person who met a person who used to work at CCAA matching families.
This person said that when he matched families - at the begining of the week, he was given a certain amount of files and then spent a week on those family matches.
But....
I also heard that each "matcher" is given 5 files - then 5 available babies come up on their computer and they match the 5 families with the 5 babies and then move on to the next 5.

I think the second one is more realistic.

RQ - you are making my Friday soooo much more fun!!!

Exactly what expires and how long is each piece of paperwork good for?

I have an American friend in China volunteering at a very small orphanage. She emailed me this week (after I emailed her with questions) saying that in her opinion infant abandonment numbers were not down. She also told me she spoke recently with a friend of hers who works at a nearby large orphanage. The friend told her that their numbers of children had gone from 460 to 520 in the last month and that they were "too full and that they were hoping to give her small orphanage some of their babies!" My friend blamed the slow down in I. adoptions for the "too full orphanage." Just another interesting thought from someone in China. One more thing from that email: my friend asked me why I thought there was a slow down! I had asked her that, and she did not have an answer for me...

Diane, in my (ever so humble, not) opinion, you can't "bug" your agency. They're there to answer your questions and keep you up to date. I hereby empower you to call/email and get that LID. Maybe wait a couple of days until they're done with referrals, if they're doing that, but go for it. You deserve to know.
