Guānxi
Someone asked if I think the CCAA shows favoritism to different agencies.
Before I answer that, lets talk a little bit about guānxi. Or, better yet, let me point you to some other pages to teach you about guānxi. That way you won't have to take my word for it.
Are you back? Do you understand what guānxi means now?
Ask yourself - do you think some agencies get preferential treatment?
Don't you wish you knew which agencies have good guānxi?

Understand it? That's one of the major reasons I chose my agency. A hand practically came out and slapped your face with it in their marketing/information packet. But I think it's fical, and those in the sun can become burned you know?
I agree with Stephanie...the advantage of going with one of the larger agencies is I think they are well established within China.
I'm with one of the larger agencies but I haven't noticed any special treatment from China. Our referrals came with everyone elses etc. What is the special treatment? I'm not saying it's not there, I just didn't see it and now I'm curious.
Waiting Mommy - No, I don't think referrals are given sooner. But I do see a big difference in how soon some agencis know LID information vs other agencies... and an agency with good guanxi would be more likely to be able to succesfully advocate for a parent when the CCAA is questioning a health issue.
And, I'm assuming someone in Spain has good guanxi and that is why they have news before anyone else.
I know for a fact that there is special treatment because I've been the lucky recipient of it. This is my 2nd adoption and there are good reasons why I stayed with the same agency.
But you'll notice that almost everyone thinks their agency has special pull with CCAA.

Oh would someone please have mercy on me and tell me am I really better off going with CCAI than with Holt - or should I go with some other agency? I want to get started!

avonlea, really,, i dont think they are that different, both big agencies with good reputations. but personally, if holt deals with 'other countries' i'd choose them considering all the crap that's going on now with china.
i know ccai is china only and i dont know about holt. but if its all the same, and holt gives you other options, i'd go with them because at least you'd have some recourse and could switch countries easily (and more cheaply) if it all goes to hell with china...
