Wow - thanks to all of you!

When I first started this blog it was mostly a place for me to have a log of the rumors and a place to work through them to figure what is a good rumor and what is a not-very-likely rumor, with the secondary reason being it would be a way for me to think out loud about adoption related stuff. When we did this last time, by the time it was close to our referral I had a good idea of who gave out reliable rumors and who gave out rarely-accurate rumors. This time, it seems to be random. Until this past month Spain was always right... and then they weren't. So, I'm trying to make some sense of the rumors. If it's possible. I had no idea it would get this big.. or that when the site would go down there would be so many people missing it. I love that we have enough people to do semi-reliable polls and to give meaningful info. I love that when I don't know something that one of ya'll can email me with the specifics of what is going on... it really does help so much in putting it all together. Connecting the dots. So - thanks to all of you. Maybe together we can figure things out. Or, if not, we can at least stay busy trying.

Thank you for sharing this site with us. I think that it is a great forum. Do you have any information on any new CCAA rules or possibly older rules, that they are now upholding. Such as medical criteria or weight. If it was acceptible in 2005 when we were LID, if it changes in after mid stream if we will be grandfathered in the old way, or be expected to be within the new criteria? Thank you!

In the past they have always instituted rule changes on new dossiers. So, if your dossier was already there then as long as you qualified when your dossier was submitted then you were fine.

I am actually a little nervous that they now seem to be changing rules in mid-stream and not grandfathering the people in who are already DTC or LID.

Some are saying they are now just applying rules that were already there.. some are saying they are going by new rules that haven't been made public yet. I'm not really sure we have enough info to know anything yet.

We adopted in 2002 and 2004...we always found that CCAI and GWCA were reputable for "rumors"...can rumors be reputable?

Actually, GWCA used to have a webpage (dossierwatch) that tracked how many dossiers they had per month and THAT was a great way to predict when splitting might occur! (they seem to be a good "sample" of the poulation!)

CCAI is always right on with "stork alerts"

we are not with either of these agencies.

We love that you decided to Think Out Aloud about your adoption thoughts.
This site is our rumour guidance and in this time of silence it really helps to be able to see what is being said.
Thank you:))

I don't know about grandfathering people in...someone who had a July LID was recently denied because her husband is in a wheelchair. People in the past have adopted when one spouse uses a wheelchair and they were not grandfathered in.

Stay busy trying is right! I have appreciated you so much through the insanity of the wait...and mine has just begun! You know it's bad when your LID is 2/24/06 and you're already well-versed on exactly what time it is in China and when they will be getting in at the CCAA and hoping nobody caught the flu and can't make it in to work that day. I've already started to dread weekends because the wheels of progress don't turn on those days! Pretty pathetic but I still suspect I'll make it....thanks for your help along the way :0)

RQ,

You are the highlight of my morning, afternoon, and evening. I am forever checking your blog for the lastest updates. You have posted information before my agency has notified me. I am talking days! Thank you for your hard work!
I have heard from a friend working through an agency other than mine, that they are expecting a batch of referrals any day now through July 30, 2005.

I don't know much about blogs, and maybe putting my foot in my mouth, but some of what your posting is nice to read. However, there are many things that seem to come across negatively that are pointed to the country in which we are adoping our daughters. Everybody who is adopting from China must have been informed by there agency that the wait is unexplainable, and there is no solid knowing of when referrals will come.

I can remember a time when adopting our 1st daughter in 2003 that there were a lot of negitive posts about the CCAA and their way of doing things. Referrals came to a dead hault because of this until the speculations and rumours stopped. Now I can't remember what country started it, but it did happen. It was some kind of post on APC that did it, and China does read that yahoo group. I hope they do not get wind of this site and some of the unhealthy feelings of what they are doing. I am sure they are doing the best they can with what they have to work with. Just as an unexpected speed up happened in 2004, now we have to accept the slow down. I know the wait isn't easy for anyone, I waited over 17 years for our first daughter, and everyday seemed like an eternity, but you have to accept what is handed to you and find other ways or something else to occupy your time other than rumours. I am sure your intent with this sight was to give positive info when available, but I would be careful of what you post, and know that there is always somebody listening around the corner.

Just my thought.
